Does anyone know if an American President can legally issue an executive order that violates the constitution?

There have been exactly two Executive Orders that were over turned by the Courts. One was Truman's, the other was one of Clinton's.

And yes, if he tries to enact gun control via executive order... It violates the Constitutions express limits on his power.

Abraham Lincoln

declared war against the oppressed states who legally seceeded, blockaded their ports seized their assets, forced the south into firing the first shot

declared the Emancipation Proclomation

probably 99% of the freepers think Lincoln is a hero and adore him, even my idol Mark Levin adores that rat basterd Stincoln

Nothing that violates the Constitution is legal. Some may call it legal (like the SCOTUS calling Obamacare legal) but it’s not, anymore than it would be legal for him to say, “Murder is now legal in a ten mile radius around the following coordinates” or something like that.
