A normal open fire really won’t melt steel.
The flame has to be fed extra oxygen to do it.
A contained fire such as a building, will eventually rise to a temperature that will weaken the steel, allowing it to collapse, if the fuel of the fire’s origin is not a liquid whose vaporization provides a cooling effect.
