Hagel probably didn’t want it pass thru his area and negotiated a deal to have it moved. But the pipeline was killed anyways.
Is Canada still trying to get the Russia to help fund the pipeline? or was that China?

Why bother with confirmation hearings? Obama’s going to get who he wants, and all of his nominations will be bad for liberty and bad for the country. He’s already legislating a lot of things via executive order; why not just do it for this, too?
Actually, there was an article in the WSJ over the weekend that said that the state of Nebraska had finally given approval to the Keystone pipeline after the reroute.
I am not sure what the deal really was with the Keystone pipeline because Canada is already shipping the oil to China via Warren Buffet’s RR and the southern leg of the transmountain pipeline. The oil is currently being shipped out of Vancouver. B.C. to China and is also moving into the US in WA State to BP, CONOCO and Tesoro refineries. If they build those sub-bituminous coal terminals in WA State with our tax dollars, they will also ship the Canadian Oil from the largest terminal. So, Canada would get to use our tax dollars to ship the Canadian oil to China.
Hagel has ties to the Saudis, who don’t want competition from the Canadian oil, so maybe that is part of the reason.
