Once upon a time, political opponents could agree to disagree, then go out for a beer together after the vote. They all had the same goal, just different ways to approach it.

Those days are decidedly gone.

We are at war. The two sides are so far apart, and so committed to their way of thinking, that this cannot possibly end well.

Of course, once upon a time we all accepted the Constitution as the baseline for all political discussions in America. Those days are gone, too.

That is because there is room for compromise.
For instance, giving up “some guns” or allowing “some gun control” means that gun controllers win, and can come back for more later.
So draw the line, make sure you’re locked and loaded, and dare ‘em to cross it.
