Amazing detail in Brian Stelter's reporting on the sale of Current TV to Al-Jazeera:
"Al Jazeera did not disclose the purchase price, but people with direct knowledge of the deal pegged it at around $500 million, indicating a $100 million payout for Mr. Gore, who owned 20 percent of Current. Mr. Gore and his partners were eager to complete the deal by Dec. 31, lest it be subject to higher tax rates that took effect on Jan. 1, according to several people who insisted on anonymity because they were not authorized to speak publicly. But the deal was not signed until Wednesday."
That deal was announced last night, and within minutes, Time Warner had taken Current off the air, perhaps as a ploy to negotiate much higher carriage fees from Current's new wealthy parent company.

Gore, Obama, Goldman Sacs and Liberals are all too happy to pose for smug holy pictures while outside of the cameras they scheme to get theirs and screw everyone else to the wall.
Al Gores convenient hypocrisy Americas loudest environmentalist, Al Gore, is about to become much richer thanks to oil money
Well who’s the Greedy 1% er now?? Oh what? Only libs get to call Republicans greedy for trying to not pay higher taxes.......
The Gulf States fund a lot of the more obnoxious American Environmental organizations and I wonder if this was a pay off for his Global Warming claptrap.
They have been trying to stop more drilling in the US for many years and have been rather successful at it.
The great environmentalist is recycling those Saudi petrodollars.Great scam. The same people who hijacked the 9/11 planes, need a propaganda venue in the United States.Former Vice President uses his influence to get access for his unprofitable network on multiple cable providers and then sells out to the Saudis. Bribery in the modern era with the payout on the back end. Ever wonder who gave Gore the seed money for his “network”?
Fight cultural filth: Stop supporting cable TV with their 80 liberal channels and 400 channels of fluff.
Ask for - demand - a pay per channel system. Buy the 15 channels you actually watch and quit subsidizing Al Gore, his looney left friends and the dregs of Hollywood.
We can do better.
I suppose this means Jenny Granholm is now a free agent?
Does this mean she’ll be offered a job as host of a revived version of The Dating Game?
This should not surprise anyone. It shows how so many of the RATS are not patriots but are traitors who despise the USA.If its true that Time-Warner refuses to carry the new channel, kudos to them and to any other cable entity that refuses to carry the voice of Al_Qaeda.
I suspect that Gore has been on the Saudi payroll for a long, long time. He's been busy for years, ensuring that the US never achieves energy independence from Middle Eastern oil.
This is virtually the same deal, according to a report I read this morning, which they refused to Beck.
So all in all, this was a profound fail.
I am seriously considering dumping TV now.
Who woulda thunk? Not only is algore a rich fat anti-science moron, he is also anti-American.
Your cable dollars will be used to buy Al Gore's channel - even if you never watch it and find it offensive.
Stop supporting cable TV with their 80 liberal channels and 400 channels of fluff.
Ask for - demand - a pay per channel system. Buy the 15 channels you actually watch (or three) and quit subsidizing Al Gore, his looney left friends and the dregs of Hollywood.
We can do better.
I don’t watch TV.
I haven’t in two decades.
And the company immediately lost 20% of its value when Time Warner dumped the channel yesterday. But of course it’s muzzie money so they don’t really care. And I’m sure Obama has told his buddies at Comcast not to drop the channel.
Two hypocrisies:
1. He gets rich on oil money
2. He doesn’t pay a ton more taxes to fedgov because he sold just before the deadline
I wish I had the power to vaporize all these bastards with my thoughts.
I suppose this means Jenny Granholm is now a free agent?
Does this mean shell be offered a job as host of a revived version of The Dating Game?

Madam Governor showing that only in America can a ditzy blonde 19-year old achieve greatness . . . /sarc.
The net profit may be lower than $500 mm ($100 mm to Big Al) if Current has significant debt on its balance sheet. Just a comment.
Probably of more interest are 1) the implication that Al-Jizz shares the network’s goals and values, and 2) the “taxes for thee” attitude of Al in wanting to complete the sale by year-end.
I really like this idea. I’ll send a request to DirecTV.
