It is easier to sit in the peanut galley and throw spit balls than to try and assemble 218 votes in the House which can in turn garner a majority in the senate, and then deal with a president that was just re-elected and the media is doing backflips to help. The GOP probably could have gotten a lot more out of this fiscal cliff deal if all the “principled” types gave Boner some room to negotiate. He had very little leverage because just about possible deal would not have been able to pass with just Republican votes in the House.

When they rejected plan B they ensured that the final bill would be crafted by O and the Senate. And for all I know that is what they wanted and are scared to say.

Sure, its easy to sit on the sidelines and demand that Bohner block a tax cut extension and in effect raise everyone’s taxes, and demand that he say he did it because he is against tax increases, while him getting all the blame for all the tax increases, which they all know would happen.

But they couldn't find a single House member willing to stand up and apply for that ridiculous job requirement.

Bohner is no great leader and in fact I think he is weak, but maybe that is why he has this job. Someone smarter (and sleazier) like Canter wont go near it.

So Sarah got no symbolic votes as Speaker??? Now that hurts :)
