I am still trying to understand what the House GOP was supposed to do. They had one chance to set the terms with the Plan B option. That was killed in pursuit of purism. So, what else? I am totally lost here.

They have been kicking the can down the road the past several years. The GOP should have NEVER agreed to raise the debt limit last year unless entitlement reform and tax reform were worked out as a comprehensive package.

Now it’s better just to do nothing until the new Congress is inaugurated and start over. And Boehner and McConnell should lose their respective leadership positions.
