If ONLY, nation-wide, they would implement DNA identification of fathers of EVERY inner-city tribal parasite as a requirement for public benefits OF ANY KIND, to identify the father for support obligations, AND, require mandatory periodic un-announced drug-testing to continue ANY public assistance benefits, we’d save 100’s of millions or more.

When I first read about this I laughed but have since sobered and sadly thought of the child.

This story has been posted several times. The national media is trying to make it into a story about “gay” rights and since it’s in Kansas it fits their narrative since we’re supposed to be the place in this country with the stupidest people. In fact, it’s not at all about Lesbians but about artificial insemination. The default in Kansas as I’m willing to bet in every other state is that no matter what the circumstances, the child has a right to support from both biological parents. There are exceptions but they are in a statute and narrowly defined. When rights of a minor are involved, the courts have very little leeway. It has nothing to do with gay marriage.

I suspect you are right, but it will also have the effect of bringing sperm donation to a screeching halt. Only winos and drug addicts will donate after this fiasco, regardless of the ultimate outcome.

Hey, Chief, that's what you get for trusting a pair of lesbians. What the hell ya 'spect? Integrity?

Which is all for the best. Men should take responsibility about where they spread their sperm, the children resulting from such unions, are indeed THEIR children, and they should only bring those children into this world that they are personally capable of fathering, and willing to do so. (And the same thing goes for egg donors.) This is a wickedness that needs to stop.

Which is all for the best. I couldn't agree more. But, it's going to make that childbirthing thing a little tough for all the charming Lesbian couples out there. Do I catch a whiff of irony in the air?

But he signed away his parental rights, does this mean parents who adopt children can go after the birth parents for support?

Anybody else find the article somewhat 'slanted'? First, this reporter identifies the current (Republican) governor in this sentence; "
Kansas Gov. Sam Brownback's administration is seeking to pass the cost of that child support on to the sperm donor of the lesbian couple involved." I can think of many articles that I have seen about government bureaucracies that have no mention of the state leadership unless that person is actually tied into the story. This reporter, Theresa Leschmann, is adding unnecessarily to the 5 'w's, unless she has an ulterior motive ... could it be?
She also displays poor grammar here; "Though the couple is no longer together, they still co-parent are very close." But then again I'm sure she is a credit to her Journalism school!

Something about not using a doctor as a go between...

The state isn’t concerned about the children being brought up in an alternative lifestyle home or subjected to life without a father figure. They are just trying to cut their budget and find someone else to pay.

William Marotta, a Topeka mechanic, may have to pay child support for a child he signed away all his parental rights to.
William, take a wrench and slap yourself up side your head about ten times and repeat after each slap “Bill, don’t be gettin involved with no queer womens cause no good can come from it”.
