“You get over 30 you can get clots in seconds ~ our attendance clerk at my 5th grade school went in for a checkup, got a clot lying there on an examination table, died!”
The odds get worse when we get older. We recently lost a friend in his mid sixties. He had a hospital procedure which went fine, came home had dinner, watched tv and went to bed at his normal time. He had a massive stroke and blood clots and never woke up.
On the advice of some excellent ER docs, cardiologists and neurologists, and my family history of strokes when in their sixties/seventies, my FP and good friend advised me to take a baby aspirin in the morning and one a couple of hours before I went to bed.
That was/is in addition to my twice a day ACE inhibitor for my HBP taken when I take my baby aspirin.
You got it. When you get older, the chances of getting blood clots go up. That is how I lost the man I loved for 21 years this past September, to a blood clot that went straight to his heart. He was in the hospital for a couple of days, being treated for blood clots that were going to his lungs. The treatment he had recieved was doing very well and he was going to go home the next day. Sadly it ended up I became an SO widow. These things you do not mess with.
He was 46.
