The Republicans set themselves up for this tragedy. Now, things are looking even more grim.
The Sequestration part of the fiscal cliff, that will cut almost 10% from the Dept of Defense immediately, is going to be "left out" of any "deal."
But, boys and girls, the Democrats get even more goodies! The Democrats will get and "extension" of unemployment "benefits" for the 99er layabouts. We live in Bizzaro World. Rep Shelley Berkeley (D-NV), who is so corrupt she could not help herself from steering taxpayer money to her husband's business, is one of the main driving forces to ensure that the unemployment gravy train keeps on a rolling (costing us another $200 Billion on top of the $750 Billion we have spent on paying people NOT TO WORK since 2008).
Meanwhile, the honorable in our nation, those who ensure the defense of this nation, are punished once again.
Engineers, logisticians, scientists, nurses, and countless other professionals who labor for the nation's defense are about to get royally screwed over, while the lazy and the corrupt are once again rewarded.
I was reminded by my wife of this Psalm:
"Do not put your trust in princes, in human beings, who cannot save. When their spirit departs, they return to the ground; on that very day their plans come to nothing. Blessed are those whose help is the God of Jacob, whose hope is in the Lord their God. He is the Maker of heaven and earth, the sea, and everything in them— he remains faithful forever. He upholds the cause of the oppressed and gives food to the hungry. The Lord sets prisoners free, the Lord gives sight to the blind, the Lord lifts up those who are bowed down, the Lord loves the righteous. The Lord watches over the foreigner and sustains the fatherless and the widow, but he frustrates the ways of the wicked."
