Yup. I got 5 years left. Retire around 53 or 54. Don’t need much stuff. iPad gets me all the books and movies I will need and I should have a nice enough nest egg to live minimalist, clutter free existence someplace down South if they will have me. Working my butt off in an office tower in an urban hell hole while listening to country music and building my nut. God willing, I can have a few years of a pick ups, PBRs, sun, tall grass, and some nice polite folks. I will be the nice, quiet Yankee that doesn’t bother anyone down the road a bit
you’re the kind of Yankee we like
I’m with you MattinNJ. My husband and I started the same transition. Picked up a cheap fixer upper in beautiful Lee County in SW Florida. Dropping out of the NYC rat race. Hope to be down there permanently this time next year. Sick of commuting and high taxes. $15 to cross a lousy bridge? Almost $1,000 for two people to commute to NYC every day? We’re. So done.
