What? The tax cuts are not in place. They expire on January 1 and revert back to Clinton rates. Obama is saying just let's pass the middle class tax cuts and let the rates go back up on the "rich."
The Reps want to extend the rates for everyone. What case are you talking about?
“The tax cuts are not in place. They expire on January 1...”
That’s what j117 means I think. Just extend the tax cuts now so they don’t expire. Just like Obama did once before! Of course that was before he was elected for the second time making him King for four years.
Next time, don't deep fry it, grill it.
0 only wants tax increases and NO spending cuts. It’s all part of his grand redistribution plan....that and Helicopter Ben’s printing press. The gutless GOP will hand over his demands, easily.
Foul language herein.
No tax increases for anyone. Cut spending. Yes, w/o a deal I’ll suffer financial loss but we are in a battle which must be won.
Obama signed the bill that extended the tax cuts before. He can't do it unilaterally without Congress. He has said that he will not extend the tax cuts for everyone again.
And Obama only wants to extend the tax cuts for the middle class, not the "rich." This is the sticking point. If the Reps agree to extend the tax cut for only the middle class now, then there is no way they can pass a tax cut for the remaining 2% later. They are effectively voting to increase taxes on the 2%, something they said they would not do because it would hurt small business and cost 700,000 jobs.
All your monies are belong to us.
If they really want to tell Hussein where he can go, just ONE of them needs to do what I told every one of them in a fax, posted here: http://butterdezillion.wordpress.com/2012/12/27/letter-faxed-to-every-republican-member-of-congress/
If they do this, the only one going over a cliff is Obama himself. And those who staged his coup for him.
President Camacho is well known to freepers (Idiocracy)
I agree. We need to focus the public’s attention on spending. Right now, people want all the benefits of the welfare state, but are unwilling to pay for them. Once more people have some skin in the game, they may start paying attention to our dire fiscal condition. Taxing the “rich” pays for just 11 days of the government’s spending.
I’m glad this event is over and I missed it. Full up to past the eyeballs with lies. The gag order on the details of ‘negotiations’ is a puzzle to me when it will effect all our lives.
Do you want us to get alcohol poisoning?
That’s fantastic
“...something they said they would not do....”
Yeah just like the senior George “read my lips” Bush. I wish the Republicans would talk about how Obama extended the bill before so as not to hurt the economy back then - why can’t he extend it again so it won’t hurt the economy.
Or perhaps I’m missing something that makes him not able to extend it - you made it sound like it needed a vote. (Or is the vote only needed if he changes the bill - which of course would make it a new bill and require a vote). Sorry if I’m being dense!
If the GOP House refuses to raise the debt ceiling, they will have no other choice. They will be forced to cut spending.
I’d trade bronco bama for President Camacho in a heartbeat!
The GOP spine on this is a charade anyway, since they could cut whatever spending they want—and they won’t.
They can only keep the Bush tax cuts from expiring on those Obama and the Dems support keeping them from expiring on, so of course they should take what they can get on that.
But they should stop the spending—making the case to the American people and taking the political hits as they come to do the right thing.
We had it on here long enough to mash the mute button and see if his lips were moving. They were.
