PRY: North Korea EMP attack could destroy U.S. — now
Washington Times ^ | December 19, 2012 | Peter Vincent Pry

Posted on 12/27/2012 8:03:46 PM PST by daniel1212

North Korea now has an intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) capable of delivering a nuclear weapon to the United States, as demonstrated by their successful launch and orbiting of a satellite on Dec. 12. Certain poorly informed pundits among the chattering classes reassure us that North Korea is still years away from being able to miniaturize warheads for missile delivery, and from developing sufficiently accurate missiles to pose a serious nuclear threat to the United States. Philip Yun, director of San Francisco’s Ploughshares Fund, a nuclear disarmament group, reportedly said, “The real threat from the launch was an overreaction that would lead to more defense spending on unnecessary systems. The sky is not falling. We shouldn’t be panicked.”

In fact, North Korea is a mortal nuclear threat to the United States— right now...

North Korea has labored for years and starved its people so it could develop an intercontinental missile capable of reaching the United States. Why? Because they have a special kind of nuclear weapon that could destroy the United States with a single blow.

In summer 2004, a delegation of Russian generals warned the Congressional Electromagnetic Pulse (EMP) Commission that secrets had leaked to North Korea for a decisive new nuclear weapon — a Super-EMP...

Any nuclear weapon detonated above an altitude of 30 kilometers will generate an electromagnetic pulse that will destroy electronics and could collapse the electric power grid and other critical infrastructures...

A Super-EMP warhead would not weigh much, and could probably be delivered by North Korea’s ICBM. The missile does not have to be accurate, as the EMP field is so large that detonating anywhere over the United States would have catastrophic consequences. The warhead does not even need a re-entry vehicle, as an EMP attack entails detonating the warhead at high-altitude, above the atmosphere.

OK, it is from the Washington Times, and no one knows if NK has an EMP, or would be foolish enough to attack the US (which increasingly is doing well enough in destroying itself from within) but because states like that attain such potential, the article continues,

Most alarming, we are fast moving to a place where, for the first time in history, failed little states like North Korea and Iran, that cannot even feed their own people, will have power in their hands to blackmail or destroy the largest and most successful societies on Earth. North Korea and Iran perceive themselves to be at war with the United States, and are desperate, highly unpredictable characters.

"Israel hath cast off the thing that is good: the enemy shall pursue him" (Hosea 8:3) applies in principle here.

Well, I wish they’d hurry up with tossing that EMP our way!

At least it would undermine Obama’s plans for destroying America.

Next election would have paper ballots.
MSM influence would be gone.

The 47% who prefer to sit on their ass, will have to make new choices.

I'm with you. I'm thinking that it might not be all that bad from where I'm standing.

Yes, and as soon as they pull that little trick Im sure we have an off-shore submarine or two that will retaliate and blast all the Norks to Kingdom Come.

So such a move is not without risk

Surrender now, America! Your puny defenses are no match for our power!

EMP stories seem to be on a four month cycle, and all say that the USA is doomed in the face of a single EMP bomb.

Read “One Second After” by William R. Forstchen.

A great read about an EMP strike against the United States.

does anyone really think that our "leaders" want peace?....I don't think they do......must be billions to be made by the elites...because our once proud country is doing nothing to protect us or other good people in the world....

we are the Unitied States of America....we have a grand history of revolution, or industry, progress, and democracy....

a nation of God fearing Christians who at one time were moral, ethical, spiritual, and believed in hard work and postponing reward for the better good....

now look what a pathetic mess we've become....and no way to stop if because of the head jerk in chief.....the evil ones control everything....

what makes anyone think that anyone in the leadership roles of this country....the white house and their little snakes...the head people at defense and yes, even the military brass care one iota of protecting us let alone retaliating for us....

they want us to be a sniviling wasted people....well, we're getting there...

there are no John Waynes who are going to save us....

not one American hero...not one....

OK—They hit the USA and—no one knows how bad such an attack will be or if it will do all the damage they expect. The people in North Korea will know that out Boomer submarines will survive and let loose with all they have on North Korea and turn it into a radioactive waste land —none of their leaders, peasants, slaves, cities, towns, bases will survive the massive blasts. They know this and that will keep any attack from happening. We might toss in any nation that helped them in the boot—Iran, China, etc... We would have nothing to lose.

A nuclear signature on an ICBM would be shot down by a Japanese Aegis.

The fun part would be letting the Norks f*** it up and having it explode over Beijing.

In the spring of 1951, we had the North Koreans and their Red Chinese allies on the run. Had President Truman not halted at the 38th Parallel, we would have eliminated this potentially existential threat to us.

Not true. Much of NOK is so close to Seoul that the use of nuclear weapons would destroy much of the city. The leadership of NOK knows where to hide and they have massive underground protection from nuclear weapons. They ain’t and easy target.
It is likely that China has acquired all of our EMP knowledge from spies and commercial espionage. Would the use NOK as a proxy to deliver a blow to the US?

Who is “we” white man?

You think Obama would nuke NK?

Really?

If we got EMP’d, do you think his investigation would take longer than the Benghazi investigation?

I’m betting on him send Kim a letter saying “Thanks for the help”
