Nobody watches his show anyway. If CNN gets enough complaints, they might tell him to shut up. Considering his borderline criminal past, they can’t be too proud of him anyway.
Of course, you exaggerate. How would there be a mass reaction to his on-air bashing of the second Amendment if that were true? Someone had to be watching.
I would guess his ratings are low, lower than number one rival FoxNews in the same time slot. It is a ratings-driven business. So rather than telling him to shut up, they might pull the plug on him completely by letting him go - especially, if as you say, they can't be too proud of him anyway.
