you don't convert to Catholicism, you return to it. If you were baptized by anyone, anywhere, in whatever church building, arena, auditorium, wherever....you were baptized Catholic....no other baptism is possible.
Uh, no incorrect. The Catholic Church recognizes baptisms in other Christian faiths as long as they are Trinitarian. It does not make them a Catholic baptism. And you do become a convert to the faith if you go through the proper training (RCIA for example). If you were not baptized in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit then you must do so along with completing your Rite of Christian Initiation. Some Christian faiths do not perform Trinitarian baptisms, so in this case you will be baptized Catholic obviously because you are “converting” to the faith.
“you don’t convert to Catholicism, you return to it. If you were baptized by anyone, anywhere, in whatever church building, arena, auditorium, wherever....you were baptized Catholic....no other baptism is possible.”
Not so. I mean no disrespect to the Catholic faith, but under this standard, most Catholics I know have yet to “return” to the Catholic faith.
“Returning” to the thread, as to Newt, he used the Catholic church in the most cynical of ways - to further his political career. Having failed, he’s compromising his supposed Catholic faith, just as he’s compromised every principle he’s ever claimed.
Newt is about Newt - find a cause, run to the front of the line and pretend to be leading the parade.
