Sorry , the police academy doesn’t accept people with above average IQ’s .. they’re not “malleable” enough , they tend to leave unethical organizations and that job turnover is expensive for the department ... who knows they might actually go against the grain and conduct themselves LEGALLY which will result in lower production (tickets , arrests etc.) never mind they might actually start fostering good will with the people that pay his salary and that his arrests might stand up better..
(no joke ,, police departments across the country routinely refuse to interview applicants with IQ’s above 104 which is the “norm” of 100 plus 4 points for margin of error on the test... the “personality” tests they require you to take are actually IQ tests..)
Which in turn, when that fact came out, led Jay Leno’s writers to produce the little ditty “Dumb cops, dumb cops, whatcha gonna do, whatcha gonna do with a low IQ?”.
