I am glad to see that not everybody is drawn into the frenzy that the media is busy whipping up to blame anything and anybody but the shooter. It’s like 1999(Columbine) all over again when I was busy defending video games that I never played on RPG forums because it doesn’t excuse the shooter(s) from killing people. Oh and the Dynasty Warriors series has been around for years, I would expect more than one murder rampage “inspired” by the series.
I don’t blame video games, I don’t blame guns, I don’t even know if Adam had seen Pulp Fiction or listened to death metal, Marilyn Manson or whatever act has been blamed in the past for, somehow, murdering people. I blame Adam, hey that is such a novel idea that maybe I should make it my tagline.
One of the commentators to the article said 'Maybe the media should be blamed for the 24/7 coverage of these events, turning them into borderline anti-heroes that can "go out in a blaze of glory".'
Somewhat agreeable to this notion that the MSM is whipping up a frenzy, and may cause copy-cats who want their name splashed everywhere. But in the end, each of us has a moral duty to not cross a line whereby we do harm to innocents. The shooter is to blame; he was certainly nuts but also evil. I've played Doom and other video games for hours until completing all levels, yet I've not had the urge to cross the line and harm others (I also own guns).
