(CNN) – Sen. Joe Manchin, a conservative Democrat from West Virginia and "proud gun owner," said Monday he believes last week's Connecticut elementary school shooting should be the tipping point in the debate over limiting gun rights.
"I just came with my family from deer hunting. I've never had more than three shells in a clip. Sometimes you don't get more than one shot anyway at a deer," Manchin said on MSNBC's "Morning Joe." "It's common sense. It's time to move beyond rhetoric. We need to sit down and have a common sense discussion and move in a reasonable way."

His tone sounds markedly different from one of his television ads as a Senate nominee in 2010, when he used a rifle to put a bullet through the Cap and Trade bill. He was serving as the state's governor at the time.
The senator was re-elected this year and doesn't face another election until 2016, giving him ample room to take political stances unpopular with his base.
Manchin pointed to Democratic Sen. Dianne Feinstein of California, who announced Sunday she will re-introduce an assault weapons ban when Congress reconvenes in January.

Dems march in lockstep with their liberal bosses) I will admit I don’t know everything about guns...but if your talking “shells” your talking a Shotgun. And I’ve never had one that has a “Clip”? Does the good Senator have a “Streetsweeper” type shotgun with a drum of shells? I thought those were labeled a destructive device....

Step#1: Dems ban firearms (i.e. no body no where to have guns at school or elsewhere so everyone is a sitting duck for a nut case)
Step#2: A nut case sooner or later shows up and does a Dem-Party-enabled mass murder.
Step#3: Dems further ban firearms everyone is even more a sitting duck for a nut case.
Step#4: goto Step#2 via infinite loop until only the Govt has all the guns...just like Hitler Germany, Mao China, Pol Pot Cambodia, Lenin/Stalin-USSR.
Step#5: With everyone disarmed, the “Dems” institute a tyranny and the Govt & Govt-mob mass murdering REALLY begins .
Now mind you, this ploy is obvious to anyone not malicious or stupid...which rules out Obaba and his 52 percent.
History sadly shows that tyranny rises when a critical mass of the people become uncaring.
Here in the USA, we are there now.
A mystery to me is how in 2010 people voted heavy Repub and in 2012 people, despite everything worse, voted Dems (assuming there was zero voting fraud and the moon is made of green cheese).

There was a lot of confusion in the first reports coming out of this shooting, but one of these reports I find to be most curious. One of the first reports coming from a reporter on the scene stated that the M-4/AR-15 rifle was found by the police in the shooter’s car and all the killing had been done by pistols carried into the school by the shooter.
However, this morning’s paper carried an Associated Press story stating that all the killing had been done with the M-4/AR-15 assault rifle and called for opening discussions once more on banning the assault rifle.
Is the MSM manipulating the news again to fit their Liberal agenda, or what?
When will this maddening equation of the fundamental right to self-defense with recreational leisure activities end?
Mental illness is a big liberal taboo. First you are not allowed to identify anyone who is crazy = “mentally challenged”. See what happens if you use the word “crippled” ... you will be charged as insensitive, non-PC.
If we had keep guns out of the hands of crazy people, most of these killings would not have happened.
