What part of free will should God take away form us to prevent these terrible events?

This is of course speaking of King David’s first child with Bathsheba. “I shall go to him” is speaking of him believing that he will see that son in the resurrection to come. There is life after this loss, in vs.24 David comforted Bathsheba his wife, and went to her and lay with her; and she bore a son, and she called his name Solomon. And the Lord loved [the child]. Amplified Bible
