Senate Bill 753: Authorize, regulate remote “telehealth” services
Introduced by Sen. Peter MacGregor (R) on February 9, 2016, to establish a regulatory framework for “telehealth” services provided by a medical professional through interactive video, audio or other telecommunications method. The bill requires providers to get informed consent from the patient, comply with “applicable standards of care,” and refer a patient to local providers where indicated, but does not appear to impose a state licensure requirement (other state regulations may have this effect however). It also authorizes telehealth providers to write prescriptions with some exceptions, although this too may be restricted by other laws.
