Actor Vince Vaughn's next project is sure to make his Hollywood peers more than a little jumpy. The "Wedding Crashers" star is teaming up with Glenn Beck - yes, that Glenn Beck - to produce a reality show for the talker's GBTV network.
The show is called Pursuit of Truth, and it pits 20 documentary filmmakers against one another, with the grand prize being the financing and distribution of their documentary film....
This isn't Vaughn's first flirtation with the Right. He supported Ron Paul for president both in 2008 and last year. Pairing with Beck shows particular courage, though, given the Left's outright animosity toward the popular talker.
Vaughn's peers may not have known about the Paul endorsements, but this news will be impossible to ignore. Kudos to the "Swingers" star for not kowtowing to industry expectations. He easily could have kept his political allegiances to himself, or used his clout in a low-key fashion as with his Paul connection.
Instead, he's letting the world know he's not afraid of teaming with a conservative if the deal makes sense on a business level.
Just because Vaughn is an established star doesn't mean he won't feel heat for this decision. Even a screen icon like Clint Eastwood felt serious blowback after supporting Mitt Romney with his "empty chair" speech at the RNC. Vaughn is sure to meet the Hollywood blacklist; he's a big enough star to withstand total blacklisting, but there's no question he will lose credibility in the Tinseltown cocktail circles. It's a tribute to him that he's willing to move forward with the project anyway.
In Hollywood, palling around with the likes of Roman Polanski and Fidel Castro won't damage your brand. Agreeing to team with Beck on a purely pragmatic project, however, is a sin not easily forgiven.

Plus... Patches O’Houlihan would definitely be a FReeper in real life, no question about it.
I didn’t mean all but a lot. Spend a little time on FR and you’ll see lots of folks who are proud they don’t see any movies,TV or listen to any new music because this actor said x or this actress said y. Using that standard some might even turn down a free trip to the Vatican because Michelangelo was a homo.
Forward!!!
I always liked Vince, this makes me like him even more.
“. Just because you are against baby-killing and buggery doesnt mean you have to be prude.”

Agreed.
A friend and I go to the movies just about every week and will see anything-—rated from “G” to “R”.The politics of the actors doesn’t matter.
I also read a wide variety of books.
.
Wow, you attack conservatives, Catholics, and falsely accuse Michelangelo of being homosexual, your leftism is especially flamboyant tonight.
Exactly - for example; Mila Kunis in The Book of Eli. No way she resembles such a noble cause.
Really Ansell don’t pretend to be dense. There’s a poster on this THIS thread who won’t go to Vince Vaughn movies. In fact go to any thread with say over 50 posts on Hollywood and you’re going to find Freepers who denounce Hollywood and won’t go to the movies. Don’t even get started on an HBO thread.
And how did I attack the Catholic church?
Also there’s been speculation and evidence of Michelangelo’s sexuality for centuries.
Jeeze you’re so thin skinned.
Right now I would take Ron Paul in a heartbeat.
Im not sure Id call Dodgeball the funniest movie of this century but I did find it very, very funny. And I thought it had sort of a good conservative message in a way a small business - a gym catering to the average Joes, goes up against a big business with an a-hole with an superinflated ego for an owner (wonderfully if not somewhat over the top, played by Ben Stiller) who goes to great lengths to shut them down. The Average Joes prevail. : ),
I also liked Wedding Crashers and The Breakup.
I like many family friendly movies but I am also an adult and I dont always want to watch movies that are only appropriate for toddlers and the Kindergarten crowd.
You show your hand when you promote the idea that Michelangelo was homosexual, as a fact, on the internet, and follow it up that Catholics and conservative Christians would avoid the seat of the Catholic church because him.
As far as conservatives making moral decisions on supporting the left and attacks on American culture, morality, history and everything good and decent that conservatives hold dear, coming from Hollywood, that shows your hand again, are you saying that you have no discrimination based on conservative standards when it comes to the Hollywood’s product/agenda?
You are on the wrong side, and attacking the people doing the right thing, like I said, your leftism is especially on display on this thread.
