The commercial itself is hardly controversial. Comedian and talk-show host Ellen DeGeneres, wearing holiday-themed gloves and hat, sits at a diner table with three of Santa's elves. She asks them to make more toys for a JC Penney contest, and ends up accidentally insulting the tiny little helpers with a bunch of clumsy short jokes.

Agree.
Ellen isn’t an in-your-face, obnoxious, aggressive, and stupid lesbian, like (for instance) Rosie O’Donnell.
There is nothing about sex in the ad, no mention of it or hint of Ellen's personal life
To be enraged because a prominent lesbian actress gets
a commercial gig is akin to McCarthyism and makes us ALL look BAD
So what now- no homosexual actors or actresses are supposed to be hired anymore?
now, ads that PROMOTE homosexuality far different and what I THOUGHT this group was about. They just lost their credibility
Agree as well.
James Cash Penney was a Christian. He was a Baptist. A Freemason, A member of the Scottish and York Rites. I could be wrong in saying this, But “I don’t believe he would like the direction his company has gone.”
??
The new JC Penney CEO has overtly gone pro-gay in everything This ad is not “overt” but it is still part of the pattern. Ellen was hired BECAUSE she is a prominent homosexual, which continues the Penney pattern.
I’d love to see them go bankrupt
It's an official title now, sort of like poet laureate.
Just kidding.
They use Christmas to sell you more of their crap products...that’s the only reason.
No, they don't. And they likely won't even after the doors close. They'll blame 'homophobes' while completely ignoring the topic of family values.
They are well on their way.
Years ago, Ellen had a cute, funny and, as far as I remember, clean, sitcom; but as soon as she got any celebrity status, it seems she just immediately came out with the “agenda”. - Why can’t they just SHUT UP about who she “sleeps” with; it is the most fickle and boring subject one could imagine? - At that time, she was involved with a cute little blonde starlet who was evidently confused about her preferences. The girl (don’t remember her name) showed up one night out in a residential area having been (allegedly) thrown out of the house she shared with Ellen. The girl later married a guy.
I agree. This sort of thing seriously hurts our cause, in my opinion. But maybe it’s already lost, in this regard.
Either way, I don’t like the hate. My disgust over homosexuality is irrelevant, and God willing will remain directed at the sin and not the sinner.
I don’t mean to point out motes in eyes and so on, just that it is easy to forget and I like to remind myself.
JCpenny is on the “no buy” list.
also one of the biggest loser stocks for the year.
doubling down on the freakshow is not a good way to save a company.
won’t shop there. don’t care how cute or funny Ellen is. supporting her by making her spokesperson is helping her continue the lifestyle -
Yep. Went to a parade last Saturday and couldn’t see much, but I flew economy recently and did have plenty of leg room! LOL
I agree. The mere presence of lesbian doesn't sell homosexuality. Aside from her somewhat butch haircut, there's no indication she's a lesbian. Who cares?
Yea, that's a winning corporate strategy for a company which lost $152m last year: let's appeal to the 4-5% of the population that is LGBT and turn off the vast majority of folks who are tired of having people's sex lives put front and center of every TV show and advertising campaign.
She’s detestable; a complete hypocrite and rabble-rouser.
What part was supposed to offend me?
“Iceberg? What iceberg? Full steam ahead.” JC Penney’s captain
Call me old-fashioned, but I’ll take Martha Stewart’s `Home For the Holidays, Merry Topless Christmas’ any day.
