Weve been working for years on doing more and more in the United States, Cook told Williams. It was Cooks first interview since taking over from his visionary former boss, Steve Jobs, who resigned due to health reasons in August 2011. Jobs died on October 5, 2011, after a long battle with pancreatic cancer.
The announcement could be good news for a country that has been struggling with an unemployment rate of around 8 percent for some time and has been bleeding good-paying factory jobs to lower-wage nations such as China.
Cook, who joined Apple in 1998, said he believes its important to bring more jobs to the United States. Apple would not reveal where exactly the Macs will be manufactured.

If they do, I'll buy one.
It's a CA company...The profits go back to CA as they should. If they build manufacturing in your state, and create some jobs, that is a plus for you.
I have read where it is nearly impossible to acquire an Apple product in Argentina because Apple rejected the Fernandez’ regime’s demands that they start making them there. So they have retaliated with tariffs, rules and regulations that keep Apple off the shelves.
But we are the world’s #1 market. If Obama chose to replicate this policy they’d be SCROOOOOOD (and apparently they must believe he’s thinking about it)
Just imagine all the taxes they would pay on equipment purchased to be used in California. All the income taxes and cost of living for employees to bring salaries to a normal level. All the business taxes and sales taxes California charges.
Apple survives on high margins. Those would disappear and so would apple.
One of the points made in the article, is that the U.S. is not turning out enough engineers compared to China. To make a difference, you need to build where smart workers are being produced, preferably near big university campuses. That's a big reason why Silicon Valley was successful in California (unti liberals ruined the state). So you don't just build where salaries are low.
Apple has footprints in Texas, Kentucky, NC and a few other states. Texas is probably the best bet for a Mac plant.
Once again, it’s a CA company...The profits go back to CA as they should. If they build manufacturing in your state, and create some jobs, that is a plus for you. No?
All I would see is a doubled price to subsidize Crapifornia.
