From 2004:
Michael Moore is a bully, says Who guitarist

I think most neocons want their own country to become more aggressively involved in the world. Wanting other countries to do the job sounds more isolationist to me.
He won’t be fooled again.
BTW, I posted this last night but since we are talking classic rock and politics:
First time in years I have seen Letterman. He started off by saying Republicans tried to block my award.
Then he said he met Obama, from what I recall: Radiant, tall, never better looking, strong, well-rested, what you want from a President. My knees buckled meeting him.
Chris Matthews has company.
I liked that snippet of film from Woodstock where Townshend shoves Abbie Hoffman off the stage...
Without even knowing his politics I always liked Pete the best. Now he’s assumed an even greater status. Funny how I cannot find a clue to his rightward leanings in his songwriting, which has always been very personal in nature. But Tommy can be viewed as a libertarian treatise.

Oh I know/ That the hope-no-tized/ Never lie (Do ya!) |
The only thing The World would hate more than The USA being in charge would be The USA NOT being in charge.
I’m pretty sure Pete Townshend would be quick to add “don’t count on me for political insight”. As opposed to pompous pretend political savants like Bruce Springsteen.
I love it when accused pedophiles claim to be conservative.
Not fooled again!
There are plenty of contemporary and subsequent descriptions of the mods that lament their obsession with making money, with looking good and with American and Italian culture.
There was a major article from early on (about 1962/1963) that is often cited where a number of mods were interviewed.
The interviewees were teens living in London from blue collar families who often worked multiple jobs and went dancing every night in clubs that played American soul and jazz records. They dressed to the nines and preferred caffs to pubs. The journalist seemed amazed by statementa from many of them that they preferred the Conservatives to Labour.
See what Pete and Roger are up to besides touring as The Who:

Some won’t let go of their obsession with other people’s personal lives.
