I don't know when this obsession with race began. But it needs to stop. We have been saying how foreign girls are better than American ones. But we also have to look at their history. Such as the Balkans, peoples who are the same but have been torn apart by Ancient Hatreds.
So if America is broken up into "Hispanics" "Blacks" etc etc. It is a recipe for disaster.

The people that built it didn’t want to sacrifice for it anymore; they stopped breeding in return for material comfort. I can’t think of any other way to describe it.
Thanks; she came here as a kid, but is still very different than American girls. She was raised by old-school parents, and is raising our children in a similar manner (they are as traditional as children can be, but have no problems with schoolmates because many of them have imported parents as well).
Many Spaniards who came to the US in the early 1970s were from agricultural areas looking for work; they had no problem with Franco (who died in 1975 - most who opposed him had left Spain decades before), and Franco had basically prevented the 1960s from happening in Spain (as they ravaged the US and France). When they arrived here they were separated from the larger mainstream culture by language barriers, so they basically carried on as they had in Spain (as if it was 1950s America). Their grandchildren may be assimilated, but they themselves never were and I don’t think the first generation raised here will be.
I hope my sons meet nice traditional girls, maybe Middle Eastern Christians or old-school Latinas.

Not if they are aware of it, though one disadvantage for newly-arrived immigrants is that they don’t know what is out there (because of the cultural disconnect). They don’t realize that their 12 year-olds will be around other 12 year-olds that look at porn, for example.

Well, he took 36 years to do it. He wasn’t a fan of the monarchy, but knew that it would be preferable to democracy without it (the leftist government of 1936, against which the generals had revolted, was legally elected). During his tenure the flag featured a black eagle from which the crown had been removed; he himself was not a monarchist (which had been weak and ineffective leading up to the war).

I think those times are romanticized today in terms of the quality of life/affluence, but it certainly was a more homogenized country (I’m almost 20 years older than you, but I hear a lot about those times from my parents and older co-workers & friends). The left has successfully eradicated a national identity, dividing and conquering what had been fairly united at one point.

When I was in college there weren’t many Arab girls; there were some Christian ones but I don’t think many Muslim families would pay the cost of educating daughters in the US (it couldn’t have been cheap). There were a good number of Turkish girls; they came from wealthy families (along with Turkish men whose families sent them to school here for graduate studies to keep them out of the army). The Turkish army, in which service was compulsory, was fighting the Kurds in eastern Turkey at the time. The Arab guys I hung around with always had a problem getting female students to their events/dances because of that imbalance.
All of the Arabs and Turks I met knew how to play chess; I miss those days...

Absolutely; when we were engaged in the Cold War, we supported military governments around the world that helped contain communism. Sadly, when the Cold War ended we abandoned many of those allies. I thought it was very classy of Thatcher to praise Pinochet as a worthy ally upon his death; he helped Britain during the Falklands War with pressure on the western border of Argentina (which is why so many of the troops sent to the Falklands were so young/inexperienced). On the other hand, we jailed men like Noriega who at one time were allies...
That is a very real concern and one that many immigrant parents are not aware of.

The Major Flaw in the Democratic system is the one we see today. When a Majority of people begin to essentially terrorize the Minority, who are in fact their neighbors.
Also remember the Stamp Act and The Intolerable Acts were all 100% legal and had been enforced by an elected parliament.
I know not everything was perfect in the '50s, hell I hear of Divorces in my family that took place in like 1955.
But now they have divided us dangerously, there is too much anger, too much hatred, too much loathing that has been building up for years now.

I forget how much my FIL said it took to send Leena to come and study here in the Untied States from France, but you can bet it cost a pretty penny.

I know what you mean; many Americans ignorantly use “Arab” and “Muslim” interchangeably, while the largest Muslim country in the world isn’t Arab at all (Indonesia). The Turks used an Arabic-type script until Ataturk changed their alphabet in the 1920s (I have a few of the older coins - it is hard to find people to read them for me); now they use the German-type alphabet (with umlauts and such). Iranians (Persians) are another group lumped with Arabs (though they speak Farsi), and Pakistanis are as well (with Urdu).
