They should start negotiating out in public first - put out what they are willing to do on revenues and SPENDING CUTS right out in the open.

Does Newt think the republican leadership (or anyone else) is going to listen to him?

Start passing bills in the House and force the Senate and President to publicly oppose them. Imagine Obama having to veto a bill which keeps middle class taxes at the current level when the alternative is that they are raised automatically, just to get his tax increases on the rich.

There’s simply no point in negotiating with the democrats these days. The days of negotiating acceptable deals with the democrats are decades behind us now.

MY sentiments exactly. Everyone PLEASE call your rep, Dem or GOP and tell them this is NOT right.
For MY 2 cents - the Soc. Security Disability leaches that have been added to the system when they ran out of Unemployment funds are draining the Soc. Sec. fund even faster. That is a WELFARE set up. Am I right that those leaches (cheaters - not the truly disabled) get their money out of the regular Soc. Security fund money?
Sick of this. And remember if they take EVERY penny the rich make - it won't be anything but a drop in the bucket. Remind your Rep that, too. Tell them to grow a backbone. Dump Boo Hoo Boehner while your at it.

At least he’s saying it. And he’s completely right: they have the majority, but they’re acting like whipped puppies.

I just can’t figure out why they are afraid to stand up to Obama.
To: sheikdetailfeather
Yeah, it’s not as if the people gave the GOP a mandate to control the purse strings.

I think Gingrich is the best GOP strategist we have. They should listen to him.

Is this the same Newt that was criticizing Romney for his

I agree. The republicans should keep saying “you turned down Simpson Bowles, you turned down our plan(Ryan), where is your plan with details?”
Of course they will lose in the court of public opinion if they are the ones who come up with cuts. Every time they do they get demogogued because cuts are unpopular. All they should say is that they will negotiate when they see the plan. Period.
