If we are going to keep electronic voting machines I would like to see a system in which every vote automatically was linked to a specific number, and immediately tabulated - with the vote and the number associated with it dumped immediately into three separate off-site secure databases. When you vote, you will be given as a receipt the number that identifies your vote. This number would identify where the vote was cast, the time of day, the sequence, and a randomly generated few digits, but no personal information regarding the identity of the voter other than the fact that this PIN is linked directly to your vote. This PIN could then be used to verify your vote later - instantaneously online - to make sure it was registered for who you voted for.
I'm sure there are a ton of ideas out there. Let's collect them, and make proposals.
