We are a nation where one can pursue individual happiness unfettered by government. If that means many find this as scurrying about in pursuit of a black friday sale, so-be-it.

Absolutely it should be unfettered by government. That is not to say however, that there is anything respectable or desirable about such a squalid orgy, nor should it be encouraged.
