...absolutely, we need a new tax system, preferably, a NST type of tax...
....but, as long as we are stuck with the progressive income tax that we have, the very least that should be done before someone's vote counts is to show a lifetime of positive tax payments. Just saying that payroll taxes count...absolutely does not count.... since they are supposedly paying for a couple of bankrupt "entitlement" programs.
..I want what Pres Zer0 wants...for everybody to pay his fair share....and that means that everybody must pay something...
I"m sure you could find somebody else to loan you $6 trillion ~ (LMAO)
Adding a new tax is always far worse than increasing an old one. I didn't originate that idea, and I wish I could remember who did.
Furthermore, adding a VAT/NST now that the Boomers are retiring and their income is declining, is just a way of "reloading" retirees with retirement funds like 401(k)'s and taxing those moneys yet again, after having already taxed them for Social Security and Medicare, and having taxed them a second time by counting dollars twice for the purpose of levying income taxes. A VAT would be triple-taxation at least -- not even counting state taxes.
The VAT/NST is a wet dream of businessmen who want to use it to remove their tax burden and turn business income tax payments to pure profit (they think).
