The stock, once up 74 percent on the year, is still up 30 percent for 2012. That's why Wall Street is getting out while it can.

“Someone yelled fire in the theater where the hedge funds were safely booking their year-end profits—and as traders do, they will trample you trying to be first to get to the exit,” said David Greenberg of Greenberg Capital.

What would have happened if someone had yelled “Surface!”, or “Nexus!” [/obscure reference to Kindle Fire tablet]

The ‘new ipad’ and mini are clearly underperforming. Apple is one of those stocks that’s been such a bubble it’ll probably lose 50% over the next 3 or 4 years and stagnate at 200. Just like it did from the 80’s to 90’s.

Not unexpected. The Jobs reality distortion field is clearly fading.

They got to drop their price points or they’re going to eat a lot of plastic.

Interesting.
I was at a local “mall” today, something I do about once every six months.

The Apple store was mobbed, with a 10 person line waiting just to get to the door where there was a “bouncer”.

The Microsoft “Surface” kiosk had 5 employees and no customers.

Defending weak patents thru litigation is expensive when they put up a fight and sue you right back.

Look at the example of Apple I. Only game in town, Apple makes millions and stay’s proprietary. IBM comes out with PC and open architecture, the world is quickly swamped with PC clones and Intel gets 90% of the market.

Apple is running the replay with Iphone vs Android.

Apple will try to hold out as long as it can. I remember during the PDA days, people were still buying black and white Palm Pilots even though ipaqs were more powerful. Of course, eventually Palm was completely wiped out.

” Just like it did from the 80’s to 90’s.”

This time Jobs won’t come back to save them. Sounds harsh but it’s true.

I am still amazed that there is no outrage by the MSM and progressives that most of Apple products are made overseas. Where’s the union protests? Where’s the progressive indignation? Why is the Food Stamp President not slapping tariffs on Apple products? Where is the MSM questioning the Chineese paying slave wages for Apple production workers?

Jobs may come back to save them, if his TV-related ideas pay off: Apple TV launch is "imminent".

MSFT is having a hard time too. I don’t ‘mind’ Windows 8, but they really gotta sell the deal that desktop/tablet/phone all being 1 linked OS is a winner. It can be too, but the desktop part could be a challenge since it’s so different. I’m getting used to it, but it might take years for the general person.

Even worse for liberals: Apple gets non-stop promotion on the Rush show.

Of course, eventually Palm was completely wiped out.

Apple is not Palm, it will be around for a long time. As for Palm, I had $9,000 in Palm stock almost wiped out in a short period of time. Not completely, it became worth $1 to $2 total. Funny thing is lots of people were buying Palm devices as the company went under. Apple is a stable company, and the stock price will eventually go up again.

Uh, most tech companies make their products overseas. As for Apple, all their A5 cpu chips are made in Austin. That's in Texas. I passed by there recently, where my daughter lives.

The next big thing, will be the resizable tablet....imagine a device that could be the size of an iPad Mini, but could easily expand to the size of a regular iPad or even larger, if you want to watch videos on it.

Couldn’t possibly be tons of individuals with long-term holdings rushing to sell before the capital gains tax rates go up next year, could it? Nah - that would NEVER happen - Obama told us so!

Now Blackberry is getting wiped out. Apple isn't Palm, but I think the loss of Jobs will have a negative effect eventually.
