Pubbies are hell bent on raising taxes (eliminating loopholes) which is the same as raising taxes.
Why don’t they just forbid businesses from deducting Cost of Goods Sold (major loophole). Everyone could go broke that way and quick.
Where does it say the government gets to tax everything anyway? I thought we got to pick what is taxed and what is not?
“Where does it say the government gets yo tax everything anyway”
It doesn’t. Constitutionally speaking the feds are empowered to collect taxes (left undefined as such), duties, imposts, and excises. Indirect taxes have to be uniform, and direct taxes aside from the income tax are illegal unless apportioned among the states according to population. They are not allowed to tax exports.
That’s about the extent of it.
