Martin Luther is a pretty fair commentator. Not the best, not the worst. And his rhetorical flights are quite logically treated as stylistic devices, unless you think Christian music haters ought to be literally tortured. Luther also never claimed a status for his commentaries that the prophecies of the LDS do in their faith.

Perceived occasions of persecution are obviously one occasion for such caring.

Furnishing answers to questions that their faith doesn’t provide answers to, is another occasion.

I can view Luther with a perspective because of a long, and sometimes painful, experience in Christian scriptures and writings.

I don’t think Luther should have written that he wanted Christian music haters confined to a silent desert, let alone written wanted non-Christian Jews to be treated with harsh abuse. Such hyperbole is entirely too easy to take the wrong way. I fault him for that, as he ought to have known his writings would lie open to use or misuse by posterity long after he wasn’t there any more to personally explain himself.

But Luther doesn’t stand in relationship to Christianity like the Talmud does to Judaism. It’s a different model.

I can’t speak for anyone else, but I tend to ignore controlling, over the top arguments that are based on pride. Anyone can type and throw scriptures around, that’s easy. Not everyone knows how to deliver them.

What "Judaism" teaches? Which sect of Judaism, teaching what for they certainly do not all agree on even how the texts themselves must be approached, much less who is "authority" and properly interprets/teaches. Seemingly, the only thing they won't argue is that they themselves are Jews, and everyone else --- well, is not.

In Israel, they squabble amongst themselves, even spitting upon one another on occasion (or worse), particularly in context of how the differing sects religious views end up playing out in the powder-keg political surroundings in which they are immersed.

That matches the 73% Obama vote in the city in which I live. California university town/ ultra "progressive" making great noises about "all inclusiveness", embracing all religions as equally valid, uh, other than open talk of christian belief, that is...for it

As we speak, Israel is mobilizing to possibly enter Gaza once again. I cannot see how it will end "well", for it makes no difference what the Jews in the Middle East do, for they are damned if they do/damned if the don't, by those whom will settle for nothing less than their utter annihilation.

Don't get me wrong. It's not that I do not commiserate with Jews there concerning what is best, wisest, over-all response. I can feel their tension from a long distance, for their tension is mine, although not myself born Jewish.
