States would not survive without the federal government tit. In fact, red states take more federal government MONEY than blue states (yep it is true but weird).
I hear that a lot, and I don’t doubt it’s true. But I wonder where is the money going?
If it’s going to large military bases, those will be radically changed by any secession. If it’s going to military contractors, those will become a source of revenue as the US will continue to buy from them, at least temporarily.
If it’s going to supporting infrastructure or welfare, then that’s a bigger problem as any new governments would face a lot of wrath if they tried to change it. (Though, I suspect a number of bums would leave if it came down to it.)
Has it occurred to you that maybe one of the reasons us “red states” get more out of Washington is because our politicians have to be paid off more to go along with your big government liberty stealing scams?
I would gadly trade a great many federal services in exchange for more freedom from federal demands & mandates.
PS: breaking off from the federal reserve banknote would also be a great boom to our states as it would deny your states the ability to employ an effective inflationary tax upon us to fund your market speculation.
