Asian Americans are supposed to be smart.
There goes that theory.
RE: Asian Americans are supposed to be smart.
Having a high IQ does not necessarily equate to being WISE.
The Bible does distinguish between wisdom and intelligence.
There are many FOOLISH intelligent people out there.
They love the idea of Santa Claus and untaxed income. Among Asians the Democrat party is the party of the freebie. No need to change to any other party.
“Asian Americans are supposed to be smart.”
They are not only smart but work hard, have a strong respect for education and a strong discipline in applying themselves to whatever task the embark.
Jewish-Americans are supposed to be smart.
They are not only smart but work hard, have a strong respect for education and a strong discipline in applying themselves to whatever task the embark.
The question is: “Why aren’t they voting for the Republicans/Conservatives who promote meritocracy, hard work, intelligence?”
.
“Asian Americans are supposed to be smart.
There goes that theory.”
On November 6th, 71% of Hispanics cast their votes for Obama.
On that same day, 73% of Asians cast their votes for Obama.
Asians “voted left” in a higher percentage than did Hispanics!
What should that tell us about the future?
Here’s one clue.
Long history of emperors, triads and other tyrants. It’s all they know. Corruption is almost a way of life in many such cultures. One thought about the democracy movement that led to Tianamen Square is that it failed largely because the movement really had no earthly idea what a democracy was, what they were fighting for. They essentially wanted - although they never clearly articulated it - to replace a tyrannical dictator with a benign one. It’s all they’ve ever known.
A lot of the Indian-Americans who registered as Republican in the Bush years are now registered Democrats. They're playing it safe in the way they learned in the old country.
I'm finding out now that in India parties have alternated in power, but when these people were growing up for many of them it must have seemed like the only choice was Mrs. Gandhi or chaos. I suspect the thinking was similar for Koreans or Taiwanese or Chinese or Thais of the same generation.
Their children go to top universities and are liberal, but probably not much more liberal than the other students at those schools. They may cite their ethnicity as a reason for voting as they did, but I suspect their White classmates voted much the same way.
