California voters may have just handed Democrats unbridled control over taxes as well as policy, but party leaders from Gov. Jerry Brown on down immediately pledged to exercise restraint.
Although final tallies are not official, it appears Democrats will hold at least a two-thirds supermajority in both the Assembly and Senate.
That gives them the ability to pass taxes and fees, and place initiatives such as same-sex marriage and bonds on the ballot without securing a single Republican vote.

It’s probably for the best. California is crashing. Better that it happen sooner, rather than later. A reset is coming all over the nation and giving the dems control is the best way to achieve that.
And when the economy in Fornicalia crashes and burns, the national Republicans need to point to it in 2014 and 2016 again and again and again and again and say “THIS is what happens when you elect Democrats.” They should have been running pictures of Detroit and Flint and Gary this cycle saying the same thing.

Good for them. The collapse of the system will be accelerated for all to witness. Lets name it Detroit II.
Heck I thought they did already. lol. I never hear much of the Republicans complaining about this and that in California. The state is liberal and has less than 30 percent Republicans in the state. Poor Free Republic Headquarters in the sess pool of California.
is it true that dems lost in every state with photo ID law?
Translation: "We won't tax 100% of your income"
You go California!
Any one down there that needs software developed at $75 per hr instead of $120 per hour please call me!
Move over Detroit!!
Here comes California.
is it true that dems lost in every state with photo ID law?
Good God No. The strictest Photo ID laws are New Hampshire, Florida and Michigan....ALL of which Romney lost.
The fortunate thing is a lot of the pols have houses which are covered by low Prop 13 taxes. If they vote to eliminate it on residential housing they will suffer some big tax increases. Since Prop 13 taxes can be inherited with the house even young Rats can have a big stake.
For instance..I bought my house in 1973. My prop taxes are 1300 per year.
If I sold it new owner would be paying 12000.
It is more likely they will stick it to commercial property and end Prop 13 on it.
That will put a lot of small business’s in deep trouble.
California taxes out of state businesses who do business in the state. Soon we will all be paying a California tax or filing a California tax return.
LOL...that’s like congratulating someone on having a full septic tank. In fact, I’d rather have a full septic tank than the job of giving all the Takers what they expect in CA, while the Makers are leaving the state in droves. Couldn’t happen to a more deserving group than Gov. Moonbeam and his Space Cadets.
I heard on local Fox this morning that they had. *heavy sigh*
just sink away..
please pass gay marriage and legal weed etc...please draw all the worse away from the rest of us..
Prop 13 is history.
