Our students are dumber AND naive...
Case in point....my colleague's twenty-something son.
Though his dad is quite Conservative, this kid is incredibly ambivalent on just about any issue of substance. Though he graduated two years ago, he lives with his sister as a live-in babysitter and has only a part-time job.
Despite this circumstance, he wasted his vote on Gary Johnson. And the biggest news to come out of the election in his view was the two states who approved recreational pot use.
If his attitudes are typical of his generation we are DOOOOOOMED.

More insidious than pot(which is bad enough) what has damaged the work ethic of this generation is the VIDEO GAME!
IF my nephew and his friends are any indication, more kids spend more time wasting away playing video games instead of studying.
Back in the Fifties Sen.Estes Kehoeffer(sp?) held senate hearings on the "terrible" effects of comic books on children. His head would explode if he knew about the time kids and yes, adults waste on these fun but ultimately useless time-killers.(No, I'm not against video games just their overuse)
