There is nothing in the Texas constitution allowing internal partition.

Where is the legal documentation reflecting the provision you refer?

Thanks.

Hey wasn't there a bunch of people who just went on top of the statue of liberty to do exactly the opposite?

Si! lol

You left out the apathetic. I know many people in their 20’s and 30’s that just shrug when you discuss “issues”.

Talk about left handed lesbian lacross and they know everything.

Tell them there is a buy one get two free beers happy hour at Twin Peaks and they’ll discuss it for a week.

Can’t get through to them so I’m no longer going to try. And I’m no longer going to visit their workplaces and no longer tip them (and I’m a big tipper). See how many nights out they can afford not paying attention without my money.

Going Galt and looking into Costa Rica and Panama.

Bush 41 was for Statehood too...

I remember his jingle when he ran for President in 1980 (Republican Puerto Rico Primary)... I was 14 years old, but I remember it like it was yesterday:

"Me gusta George Bush porque dice 'Estadidad Ahora!'

Me gusta George Bush por su gran sinceridad

Y porque Puerto Rico estado es lo que quiero

En las primarias, mi voto es por George Bush"

Loosely translated:

I like George Bush because he says 'Statehood Now!'

I like George Bush for his great sincerity

And because I want Puerto Rico to become a state

In these primaries, my vote is for George Bush.

I could not help but respond to your post. I am not here much, and therefore don't get very involved in debates, etc.

But I have been waiting my whole life for race and ethnicity not to matter.

For what it's worth, I think a person's ideals are far more important than race or ethnicity. Let me correct that - race is not important to me.

Maybe I am naive. But all I care about is that people come here legally, learn the language, become loyal Americans, pay their taxes, and not become a public charge. No less, and no more, than my ancestors did.

Frankly, I wish more of our native-born population could do the same!

I don't care what color someone is, but what their ideals are. I must be missing something, but race seems to be more of an issue now in some ways than before. I vote conservative and Republican because I think they generally don't do the race-baiting and division as do the Democrats.

I just want to be judged as a person, not a race. And I'll do the same. Is it really that difficult, I ask?

I celebrate my ancestors’ heritage one day a year. No more, no less.

I will oppose any group that says the county belongs to this race or that race - whether the group is white, black, brown, or anything else.

I would not be happy to see any bashing of any group on this site, except an ideological group based on behavior.

And thank you for serving the country. The first day you put on the uniform, you showed more courage than I have in my whole lifetime For what it's worth, I also think it's insulting to Hispanics for some to believe that amnesty for illegal aliens will automatically cause all Hispanics to vote for them. To me, that's like assuming one could win the Irish vote by de-criminalizing drunk driving, or that going easy on the Mafia would win Italian support. Most people of all types want the laws enforced! I know many people who are Hispanic who do not want to be associated with some of the groups and causes supposedly "in their name."

The polling data I have seen indicates that when corrected for income, Hispanics vote Republican in the same proportion as whites do. But right now the Hispanic population is, on the whole, much poorer than the white population.

Dem all the way, baby!

(Other than our former Governor Fortuño - who lost on Tuesday - I can count the Republicans in Puerto Rico with one hand. However, the citizens and islanders are very religious, pro-life and not into the whole gay marriage thing).

Off Topic: Did you see that L.A. County voted on a question about using condoms in pornographic films — and the measure won 56% to 44%? California is so freakin’ funny!

Jeff Probst had two porn stars on his talk show today... I was intrigued by the whole thing (could this be a subliminal message of suburban motherhood middle-aged pre-menopausal oppression?)

A bunch of my sorority sisters and I are meeting up in DC this weekend and tearin’ it up... we’re in dire need of alcohol and ‘alone time’...

That sounded somewhat Lesbian — but it’s ‘alone time’ from our husbands and kids...

A Third World miscegenated craphole were the majority of the population uses the WIC card, and whose "statehood" party is comprised of opportunists who caucus with both Republicans and Democrats, but who share a common cause of promising more benefits from the Great White Father if they approve statehood.

Whether in Jersey or Orlando, Ricans vote for the party that gives them the most bennies. It wont be any different if we gave them statehood. Havent the demographics of Tuesdays election taught is anything?

I am not sure 54% is enough. Let's say in 5 years they change their mind. Do we just let them go?

It was in the US annexation of Texas, IIRC, that Texas had the authority to divide itself into as many as 5 states.
