havent seen anyone ask this yet, so I will: did the Ron Paul Revolution stay home last night?
Mitt Romney won 3 million votes less than McCain while Obama lost 10 million votes of his own from 2008.
Where did those 3 million McCain voters go?
The main part of why I believed Romney would win this time because I knew the 10 million Obama supporters would sit home but never in my worst nightmares did I imagine McCain voters would sit home. I counted on them to show up and bring friends this time to boot Obama out.
The only thing I can think of is this:
* Ron Paul supporters sat the election out because Dr. Paul because the conflict regarding the convention and the other delegate issues
* Evangelicals went through with their threat to sit home because Romney is a member of the LDS Church
And these two groups thought allowing Obama to have a second term was worth sitting home.
Is that what happened?
I never thought that was a realistic possibility because I cant imagine ever allowing the Left to not just maintain power but actually expand their reach but thats what happened last night.
Have you seen anyone crunching numbers to explain this today?
The Mainsream Media Ministry of Truth will say oh, it was all about Hispanics! but that is a red herring. That doesnt explain dropping three million votes below McCain and a total of five million votes from Bush in 2004.
Ron Paul supporters seem to explain that first drop from Bushs 2004 numbers, sitting out to the tune of 2 million when McCain ran in 2008 and then sitting out even more this time; perhaps its a combination of Ron Paul people and Evangelicals who sat home to teach everyone a lesson.
Thats an expensive lesson if this is right.
I agree and have seen this myself.
I voted for Ron Paul in the primary. I showed up and voted for Mitt Romney in the general election.
Not to be catty about it, but Hindus do know their kind ~ people like Pelosi.
NOTE ON BALLOTS: I asked for a ballot in Skolt Sa'ami. They didn't have one ~ next election they will have one.
The number of Fairfax County students who speak a foreign language at home is likely to surpass 50 percent of the school population for the first time, reflecting a surge of immigrant families in Northern Virginia, school officials said.
As total enrollment reached an all-time high of 181,500 students when school began Tuesday, Fairfax also saw a major increase in those who will need English language lessons. This year, about 31,500 students are projected to enroll in English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL), representing 17 percent of the total county student population and an increase of nearly one-third from last year.
Those numbers have profound financial implications for the school system, which spends $3,300 per student for ESOL lessons, county budget records show. With 7,652 new students in ESOL this year, that represents an additional $25.3 million. When you total just the ESOL costs for all 31,500, this equals $104 million. And if you factor in the annual student costs of around $13,000 per student for just the ESOL students, not foreign-born students who have mastered English, the costs are $410 million. So we are talking about $500 million dollars for just the costs of ESOL students, who are here legally or illegally. Add to that other costs. One in four Fairfax County students receives free or reduced price meals in one of the top 3 richest counties in America.
The Fairfax County school system is applying for a U.S. Department of Education grant worth up to $40 million in the hopes it would help the county overhaul schools attended by its poorest students.
The grant, part of an Obama administration initiative called Race to the Top, provides about $400 million over four years to individual school systems. Were going for this grant because we need every dollar in these tight times, said Kim Dockery, a Fairfax County assistant superintendent who is on the grant proposal team.
Dockery said the core of the grant would be spent on schools where more than 40 percent of the students receive free or reduced lunches, a measure of poverty in Fairfax. She said that although Fairfax County is one of the most affluent in the nation, nearly 42,000 students live below the poverty line and as many as 2,500 are homeless.
The school costs make up 53% of the total County budget. Property taxes will continue to rise to support the increasing costs. I have yet to hear any Rep go after this issue and say that Fairfax County needs to stop being a de facto sanctuary county and go after illegal aliens in much the same way that Prince William County did under Corey Stewart. Three quarters of the residents of Fairfax County don't have children in the schools.
The board allocated funds to the fiscal 2013 budget to hire about 160 new ESOL teachers. Currently, 860 are on the faculty.
Immigrants have been fueling most of the population growth in Fairfax for years, census figures show. More than one in four county residents are foreign-born, and one-third speak a language other than English at home. As a result, the number of students who need English instruction is the fastest-growing student population in the county, said Teddi Predaris, the countys director of ESOL services. The same is true across the country and around the region.
In neighboring Arlington County, for example, ESOL students make up 16 percent of total enrollment. In Montgomery County, they account for 13.6 percent of all students; in the District, 10 percent.
And yet the likes of biden becomes vp.. but his combative attitude and mouth are a plus...
Some people just it framed different lying I guess
It has little to do with being desirous of freedom, but rather, being indoctrinated to be part of the Dem machine. Political affiliation is very similar to one’s religion. For most, you basically are born into it. Demography is destiny.
They didn’t count all the votes. Obama hates the United States, he said this was about revenge. When he told the voters to vote out of revenge, yes, he needed a decent voter turn out, but that was only to hide the fact that they were just not counting the votes. Obama is a radical, left wing, political activist. They feel the ends justify the means. This election was stolen, point blank. We now have our first dictator. Until we start seriously try to figure out how to protect the vote, all this Monday Morning Quarter Backing ain’t gonna help. Romney is not a monster, he is a decent man. People really liked him and they showed up to vote, their votes just were not counted. Why do you think they hired a socialist European Nation to count our votes? Why do you think Obama didn’t even try during the first debate? Why do you think the UN was called in? To provide a “witness” that it was all fair. This is classical, Marxist, Mind control, try to control how we perceive reality so we don’t even consider the alternative. I am sick of these Marxists, I am tired of their war that they have declare on us - The United States of America!
Spoken like a true Marxist, either you are one of them or you have been brainwashed, Republicans are NOT the problem. Maybe protecting our VOTES, would be a good place to start. Obama said this was about “revenge” figure it out! Dictators hate those they oppress, because we make them aware of how evil they really are just by the fact that we exsist. It’s not good enough for them to just win. You don’t belive me, ask Germany pre World War 2. It wasn’t enough for Hitler to take everything that belonged to the Jews. And if you think it’s good enough for Obama to win, then you are mistaken. Republicans are not the problem, I repeat, REPUBLICANS ARE NOT THE PROBLEM!
Amen! It makes you wonder how much Saul Alinsky tactics are being used. I am sorry, we need to stop fighting each other, and look at who the real enemy is - Barrack Hussein Obama, this IS about revenge. It amazes me how some of the most snobby people, who have benefited the MOST from the blessings of this country, feel that they need revenge? Can you spell Arrogance? The meek will inherit the earth. Cause these Arrogant ones will drive us all into the ground by the time they get through!
You didn’t even mention early voting, how easy would it be to just not open the mail and to toss it? They know where the Republican districts are.
They aren't conservative. I'm not a pubbie. I'm a conservative. If pubbies want to run a conservative, I'll vote for him. If not, not.
You don't own my vote, all the yelling and the caps in the world won't make me do what you tell me to do.
Now... wanna take a deep breath and give me a reason to support your candidate? Without all the Jews dying hyperbolic crap? After he already lost....
/johnny
Did a lot of freepers not vote for Romney? I know back in primary season, eons ago, we were not happy with Romney. But not voting for him to stop Obama is a self fulfilling prophecy (unless you live in an ice blue state).
That is true. A lot of conservatives did pass away. And even more might have been in nursing homes and were bused in and forced to vote Obama.
Y'all were warned repeatedly. The battle here on FR prior to the time that the Republican cheerleaders were allowed to take over should have been instructive. But it wasn't. The VERY SAME THING happened over McCain't/Palin, and THAT should have been instructive. But it wasn't.
There is a VAST difference between Republican and Conservative. Anyone who would throw principle to the wind is not acting conservatively, and throwing principle to the wind will always get you a loss, because unlike the left, principle is what holds us all together. Without Conservative principles, the Conservatives don't show up. And without the Conservatives, Republicans are nothing.
Thus, 'Anyone but Obama' was doomed to fail from it's inception.
Perhaps this is instructive... but I bet it won't be.
I think you are missing the point... Conservatives tend to have big families, and their offspring tend to be Conservative too - For every death there should be many children picking up the torch. When my mother leaves this mortal coil, she will leave behind 9 grandchildren, many of voting age. She already has 6 great grandchildren... All but one of my four siblings is dyed-in-the-wool Conservative (albeit that only one of us is Republican, including wives), as are their children. Notice: Of my father's House, one lone member is still Republican, but there are many Conservatives.
The Republican party has been hemorrhaging membership for decades. It isn't demographics. Conservatives have become independents. A fact that the !UP! the middle campaigns of Romney and McCain't failed to acknowledge.
give me a survey that demonstrates Conservatives, on average, have larger than average families.
If he's slow at learning English they just knock him upside the head until he figures out what he's got to do.
By the time these kids get to school age they don't need the special programs but the school district defines their need in terms of their parents' first language.
Last time I was at Burke Lake they had the "Don't go in the water and wear a vest" sign in about 24 languages. It's not a joke here, and Spanish isn't the #1 foreign language.
//Seems to me like the candidate needs to earn the votes he needs. Blaming voters because they didn’t vote for Romney is backwards.
Well said.
Ron Paul people in Tampa were maaad!
