2 generations later, the ethnic whites vote Republican and the Democrats find a new ethnic group for their coalition.

I emphatically disagree. We have to fight for the Hispanic, black, youth, woman, everyone vote. The Democrat coalition is fractured when you appeal based on good ideas and good results.

Who needs good ideas when you can just give people free $$$?
It’s nice to be optimistic but none of it matters. They only want free stuff. That’s it. Nothing else matters. Anybody who gives them free stuff gets their vote. Doesn’t matter if more of them are unemployed now than four years ago. Race doesn’t matter as long as the government check keeps coming. The only way the GOP can compete in any substantial way is to get into a bidding war with the Democrats much like the Caesars bribed the Roman legions for the Imperial throne.
Fight for their votes? How? As long as blacks, Hispanics, and women want to be taken care of by big daddy government, there is no way they will vote for a conservative. First, we need to get government out of education (not going to happen any time soon), and the welfare state will probably have to collapse before there is any real change.
