As always Boehner will support every increase in the debt limit. That alone makes the “taxes” pledge silly.

A mandate isn’t needed - they will raise automatically on Jan 1. Barky’s all for it, he’ll blame it on the House’s refusal to work with him, the media will cover it that way, and there’s nothing Boehner can do.

I doubt Obama will ask for tax hikes.

He doesn't have to -- they'll happen automatically with the expiration of the "Bush tax cuts" and the provisions already in Obamacare. The one drawback to the GOP House going full-bore obstructionism as a general policy is that inaction will work against us on those two.

People around here don’t appear to be anything but totally off their rockers, but I think that will change — for some of ‘em at least — after the mourning period is over. Some may actually learn from it. Others definitely won’t.
