More 300 people gathered Tuesday atop a parking garage at Pittsburgh International Airport to catch a glimpse of Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney.
Romney arrived at the airport just before 3 p.m. Police are keeping onlookers at a distance from the Atlantic Aviation terminal where Romney arrived. No rallies in the area appear to be planned.
I think just the energy and excitement of being here with other supporters is exciting, said Valerie Bartels, 46, of Mount Washington. Her husband Brian Bartels, 51, said he was a little disappointed that Romney wasnt expected at public events Tuesday in the region.
But I understand the safety concerns as well as the security concerns, he said.
The Romney campaign did not immediate respond to a request for comment.
I was just hoping to feel the energy of the crowd. But at this point, Id be happy just to see his airplane, said Joni Tierney, 48, of Cranberry Township.

Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney is scheduled to arrive at the Pittsburgh International Airport for his final stop of the campaign this afternoon, but supporters of the former Massachusetts governor hoping to catch a glimpse of him might be disappointed because his appearance will not be public. Mr. Romney is scheduled to arrive at 3:20 p.m. at Atlantic Aviation Services and his arrival is only open to members of the press. From there, he will be whisked away in a motorcade. His campaign declined to say where he was going. The governor’s marathon election day also includes a stop in Cleveland — also closed to the public but open briefly to reporters — in a last-ditch effort to pick up votes in a crucial swing state. He started his day by voting with wife Ann in Belmont, Mass., and is scheduled to end the day in Boston.
Holy smokes, how in the world could this guy lose? Someone please explain to me how someone with this much excitement could lose? McCain had nowhere near this excitement!
UGHHHHHHHHH This election is going to be the death of meee!!
Same here!! Ahhhh I cannot wait....
That’s an amazing sight. Hope they voted already :)
Explain how Romney could lose?
More fitting, explain to me how that lying, corrupt, failure in the White House could possibly win!
How can so many Americans vote for such an atrocity?! Someone needs to take back the school system from the unions, get some balance into the colleges and universities, etc.
It’s a completely dumbed-down populace that gives power to the leftist elites.
bump!
It’s unreal, isn’t it? I was at the New Hampshire Rally last night.....all I can say is that is was historic. We brought our two girls and they experienced so much love for country and an energy level you get at rock concerts! They had to turn people away....every seat was filled. And Mitt was on!!!
Thanks, VinL.
FANTASTIC! Thanks Vin and Jane! :)
Read some of the other posts on Philadelphia voting. That's how Dems win Pennsylvania. They lose pretty much every county in PA but get 150% turnout in Philly. And if that isn't good enough, they start shredding Republican votes in Philly.
