Coleus, welcome back to civilization.
It’s incredible that so many in very populated areas of NJ are still without power-and a northeaster will hit tomorrow and Thursday.
Well the self-pity and lack of perspective certainly are.
We were out 88 hours August 29-September 1 this year in Isaac. That's new Orleans, late summer btw. Temperatures well into the 90s, with dewpoints to match. Never below 75F, even in the middle of the night. I would have loved to have traded my Isaac experience this year for three times the outage duration with temps in the 40s and 50s. Sounds like a vacation to me.
For the record, after Katrina my home was down for a month. These crybabies in the mid Atlantic have no freaking clue.
I hear ya. The thing that takes down powerlines is wet snow and ice. When it’s really cold, it doesn’t snow, except for lake effect snow. The leading edge of the cold front squeezes the moisture out of the air, so really cold air is dry and doesn’t take down powerlines.
I would much rather spend a couple of nights cuddling wifey under the blankets than spend a few days in Gulf summer heat without A/C. No question about it.
The heat was so smothering after Isaac, Mrs Romulus wouldn't even be in the same room with me.
We moved to a downtown hotel for three nights. It was either that or murder, and I was afraid to be the survivor.
sorry to hear that you are still out of power, I would never have thought we would be affected with something like this for so long in this day and age.
“His wife went to stay with one of their adult daughters who has power.”
Glad to hear that.
Your cousin has seen it all, hasn’t he.
More damage last night...still no power...oh well.
