I was in Ike and the county commissioner had to threaten them with commandeering their trucks and jailing the if they did not get their butts inb gear. He turned the air not just ble but ultraviolet blue and they finallly got going. It apppears that Fema has deteriorated since then.

Wal-Mart takes immediate action on news of a storm like this, and pre-stages additional stocks of storm supplies in close proximity (but not directly in) the impact area. I read a story about the response of Wal-Mart (and Home Depot, and a few others) by comparison the FEMA in the response to Katrina in the Gulfport/Biloxi area. Wal-Mart was, for a large chunk of time, the ONLY place that victims and rescue workers could get supplied.
