There are still plenty of Catholics in the big city machines.
Here in Chicago there are lots of Hispanics MOST of whom are Catholic, Polish, Irish, Italians.

If the RATs get half the Catholic vote they lose big time. That is one of the Democrat party’s main bases of support.

Of course, they buy votes. But much of the wealth in the suburbs comes from jobs worked in the cities still the economic hubs of the nation.

Now these voters may only be culturally Catholic and avoid mass as the liberal Jews stay away from the synagogue. That I believe as I believe that anyone who truly follows the beliefs of the Church could not vote Democrat.

And there are historical reasons for the present.

That, in no way, refutes anything I have said.

Is that your way of covering the truth or saying that the Democrat Party does not get the majority of the Catholic vote?

I know. I think he’s so right.

I recommend viewing the show, last week’s “The World Over Live” EWTN.

It’s quite possible that Catholics in Pennsylvania will sound the death knell for Obama:

I’ve been a Catholic for 50 years. Started young. :> There is no way anyone could vote for obama and call themselves a Christian, let alone a Catholic. It’s impossible. But.....hey, there are still clueless folks out there that will need to awake.

Go here: http://www.canonlaw.info/2007/01/denial-of-communion-is-not.html Denial of Communion is not Excommunication by Ed Peters (Canon Lawyer)

I am a Catholic.

When asked by religion polls are showing Jews and Catholics are not going to vote for The Disaster in numbers close to 08 and the latter may vote against him. This portends a great outcome because, if true, there is no way he can win.

Thanks for the link.

But I’m still unclear.

If my bishop told me not to present myself for communion, I would consider myself excommunicated.

I understand the difference between Holy Eucharist and *all* sacraments, but as I understand excommunication, I wouldn’t think I could *not* go to Confession (provided I repented, etc...); I would think that Holy Matrimony would not be open to me, without repentance again, and that Holy Orders would likewise be the same. And, that Last Rites, the same..

I hope this is clear.

So, I’m not understanding as to:

1) What is different between excommunication and no Holy Eucharist; and,
2) What process, other than my bishop telling me no on Holy Eucharist, is performed, required for excommunication.

I read the link, but don’t see it there.

I’m guessing that there is a higher level of sanction, perhaps by the Holy Father?

Yep, I think the *One* has worked hard to offend Catholics and succeeded.

I do differentiate between practicing Catholics who will not vote for Obama, but “Catholics” did vote for Nixon, Reagan and Bush, and I believe they will vote for Romney and Ryan.

What is so scary about this is that Obama is attacking the Church on a doctrinal point that few Catholics actually follow or agree with: the use of artificial birth control.

What is so scary is that so few seeem to recognize that "birth control" now includes such lovelies as RU-486, "the morning after pill" which goes beyond preventing conception, beyond preventing implantation, and makes the subtle but significant jump to abortifacient.

Though the developing and implanted fetus may be in its earliest stages, this amounts to a chemical abortion.

So, it isn't just about 'birth control' as most conceive it, but about marketing very early first trimester drug-induced abortion as 'birth control'.

Those easily duped by the rhetoric might take a different stance if the media would only honestly discuss the issue.
