Paralyzed U.S. Army veteran Daniel Priotti has worn a uniform to celebrate Halloween for years with no problem.
But trouble struck -- at the hands of a Marine veteran in a pink tutu -- early Thursday morning at the Pita Pit restaurant at 1702 W. University Ave.

No offense to anyone here, but I never had a lot of respect for men that used Halloween as an excuse to dress like women.
I don’t think the veteran should dress up in his uniform for Halloween. It’s not a costume.
Chri Dabney...
Obviously, a real man of genius.
Oh brudder...
As Priotti sees it, appropriate punishment for Dabney would not be jail.
"Community service a lot of it," Priotti said. "I think the guy should have 2,000 hours of community service working with the disabled."
We were discussing this yesterday ~ there the charge was made that Halloween was simply an excuse to worship idols. Now we are imagining it's just an excuse for a party and wearing funny costumes.
Get back to the point of the feast day and it's pretty clear it's a time for reflection.
The guy in the tutu probably had too many wine coolers ~ and he certainly shops in the wrong stores eh!
I’m with you, this guy has no business wearing his uniform out on Halloween, disabled or not.
I actually empathize with the perp in this instance.
Maybe twinkletoes should have found out what was what before jumping in and punching people? Or is his costume a clue?
I don’t. The tutu wearing Marine was way out of line for cold-cocking him. Is this what we as a society have come down to? I agree that it is somewhat disconcerting for a guy to wear a uniform on Halloween, but that’s his choice. It is not a valid reason for an unprovoked assault on the guy.
The vet Marine in a tutu attacks the vet in the wheelchair for wearing a uniform. Whew. To liberals this is a sign of progress somehow. :(
Ex marine and 22 years old? He didn’t last very long, did he. Maybe he and his pink tutu can go back in now that the rules have changed.
IF he was no longer serving, he could have left for a number of reasons... End of enlistment (likely a four year tour, that would fit his age); disability of his own (MIGHT explain the tutu) or some other reason. Not everyone does 20 or 30 years. Some do one tour (enlistment) and leave. Others of us find the Corps a calling, a way of life. Either way is fine. He’s ustill going to be a Marine forever.
What he DID, in this case, was totally wrong and uncalled for. As others have said, probably too much wine coupled with a low flash point. I agree with the victim, community service with disabled vets would be suitable punishment.
Sucker punching a guy in a wheelchair? He needs about 20 years in prison to think about it. I wouldn’t be surprised if something other than alcohol was involved. Steroids, perhaps.
Hey, the guy in the chair is the one who suggested the punishment, according to the story. HE doesn’t feel bitter, apparently.
While arrogating punishment to the state is based, in part, on preventing private justice, it isn’t the only basis. The state has a duty to the population at large to prevent a recurrence of this guy attacking (bullying) innocent folks. Locking him away in prison is the best of the available options.
In short, the victim is entitled to express himself, but it is up to the prosecutor and the judge to meet out justice. And if I held either post, the guy would be taking a long term vacation to Starke.
