Oi have been thru so many hirricanes. We prepare, after the storm passes the outdoor propane fueled big pots fire up and the best gumbo is made from what is in the freezer. That is how people got their power up fast after Gistav, we were out for over a week but those with gumbo FED THE UTILITY WORKERS IN EXCHANGE FOR POWER LINE HOOK UPS.
Down here, everybody sort of chips in, helps and takes pride in veing up for it.
If one is in a place where it doesnt happen, I imagine it is awful.
