They file very expensive nuisance lawsuits that have nothing to do with real copyright infringement.

Trolls best decribes these bottom feeder lawyers. Their goal isn’t to protect copyrighted material or IP, but to aquire patents and copyrights through “clearinghouses” for the sole purpose of mining for lawsuits. It does nothing to stop the rampant copyright and IP theft going on offshore and domestically, for the very reason that these lawyers only go after the easy marks through abuse of our legal system. After looking to patent some industrial controls devices back in the 90’s, I just ended up selling the whole thing to a manufacturer, and both sides walked away pleased with the deal.
