I have an old 5000 watt Coleman powered by a 10 hp Tecumseh engine with a “muffler” the size of a pack of cigarettes. If I fire it up near a cemetery, there’ll be a repeat of “The Night of the Living Dead.”. Fortunately, I’m several hundred feet from my nearest neighbor.

The Marines used to hook a hose to the exhaust and bury the end under gravel. With not all that much gravel or dirt it’d be pretty quiet.

Thanks, Dad. See, I really was listening...

I have a 7000 watt unit that powers up the whole house. But it’s beyond noisy.

After much research, I’m getting a “deck” storage box from HD. Cover the inside walls with insulation and make a hole for the exhaust. I also want to put a small car muffler on it. I’ve seen the before and after and I’m impressed with the noise difference.

Also, if there’s anyone that’s want’s to sell gas in NJ then I’m a buyer. I run a business in Newark that I need to check up on every day even with no power (It’s located near the projects). I live in Rahway. It’s getting hard out here.

Any help would be great.
