WaPo-ABC tracking poll: high marks for President Obama on Hurricane Sandy response (tied 49-49)

President Obama gets sky-high marks for his response to Hurricane Sandy, which cut a brutal path along the country’s East Coast on Monday, according to the latest release of the Washington Post-ABC News tracking poll.

Nearly eight in 10 likely voters say the president has done an “excellent” or “good” job dealing with what’s been labeled a “super storm.” Almost as many give positive reviews to the federal government’s response generally. Even two-thirds of those who support Republican Mitt Romney in next week’s presidential election say Obama is doing well in this area.

The results for the hurricane response question are from interviews Tuesday evening, one of the four “waves” of interviews in the current release from the Post-ABC tracking poll. The one-night margin of sampling error is plus or minus six percentage points. As was the case Tuesday, responses in the Northeast across a range of demographic and political variables were on par with those throughout the tracking poll, which started Oct. 18.

Averaging across the most recent four waves, the presidential contest itself is back to a tie, with Obama and Romney each supported by 49 percent of likely voters.

LOL! All Zero has done is talk...as usual.

When the problems start, and they will, BO will step back and let Christie take the blame.

We cannot ignore the emotional impact of this on the election, just six days away. Unfortunately, this may be enough to push Obama over the top; it will not take many voters and only a few need to respond emotionally, on a short-term basis, totally ignoring the economy, lies about job creation, the Libya scandal, rapidly implementing socialism and other long-term issues of importance. If so, we will all be able to thank Mr. Chris Christie for this - the only good thing to come out of it will be that any career that he hoped to have as a Republican star nationally is now finished - it is one thing to be polite to the president, its another to bow and scrape and essentially, endorse him publicly for reelection. Of course, Christie may switch to become a Democrat - stranger things have happened and I’m certain he would be well-rewarded with federal funds and a straight path to reelection as a Dem or a federal cabinet appointment with plenty of food to eat.

Seriously folks- this is a WaPo poll that wants and needds a horse race and needs to encourage their side not to give up.
They will lie, cheat, distort, and manipulate everystep of the way if they think it will help their agenda.
All the actual numbers plus the enthusiasm gap spell serious trouble for zero.
Any portion of the electorate that can be lead around by the nose by the media is already there.
It’s not like they have exercised discernment and treated the LSM skeptically for the last three years but all the sudden a big storm hits and Obama is god again.
All this hype is orchestrated to make the race look close and keep the left from not showing up election day.
Watch the candidates, not the polls.
Everybody needs to chill and stop looking for reasons to worry.
The polls fail to capture the utter lack of enthusiasm for zero this go around.

What?

No, seriously, what!???

It sounds as though the WaPo and ABC are doing anything they can to boost the failure that is Dear Leader.

Unfortunately right - Way too many people are uneducated thanks to our wonderful Public Education System. When they have that learning to base their decisions, well you are right, they are idiots!

The worst part of that is when over 50% become idiots, we will become a Marxist or Communist country. Welcome to the future.

I gather that his teleprompter script consisted solely of the word “Duck!” which he issued before the storm hit.

What a joke!

You nailed it. Obama got coverage that money just can’t buy. One of his harshest critics heaping praise on him is being replayed ALL OVER the country. Not just NJ. If Romney loses, Christie will have the blood on his hands.

Just what did O do to warrant such high praise? He went to Orlando to campaign - then turned right around and went back to DC to sit in front of a screen. Now, he flies over a damaged area - which is what a president does. He hasn’t done anything special, and it doesn’t sway my vote. I can’t forget Benghazi - something he could have done something about but chose not to. The storm is something he can’t do anything about - and tries to insert himself in.

This POS makes me sick. Everything is political with him. The areas that got hit were all blue states anyway. He didn’t lift a finger to help the red states when they needed it. So, go suck an egg and pound sand, you piece of scum who likes to call himself the president. I want you out of the WH, off my tv, radio and news reports.

Christie started this during the summer - a keynote speech at the convention which was mostly about himself, not the nominee for president; subsequent public comments to the press that Romney couldn’t win; and now this. I have no idea what his strategy is, other than: 1) to buy a weak opponent for reelection to the NJ governorship next year (the Dems can engineer as a return favor this quite easily); 2) clear the path to the 2016 Rep nomination for president (well, he can now forget that); or 3) either switch parties or pull a Ray Lahood and get a second-term cabinet appointment in the Obama second term that he can follow with a seven-figure law firm partnership. If I had to choose, it would probably be choice (3)b as he probably doesn’t care that much about running for reelection as governor (this would be no real stepping stone) and as William Weld, Paul Celluci and Mitch Daniels, among others, ahve shown, its quite attractive (and lucrative) to step down as a governor even though your term has not expired and become an ambassador, cabinet level chief or college president. Otherwise, this obsequious display by Christie was not necessary - if the feds didn’t pony up disaster relief funding, the two Dem senators (Menendez is up for reelection next Tuesday) would raise cain about it.

Christie is up for re-election. But, he sure didn’t have to blubber all over that POS. O could see the same reports we see on tv from the comfort of his situation room. He makes me sick to my stomach.

Oh please. Some of you people are a plain embarrassment to this site. I would rather just have DU trolls then the babies that pass themselves off as conservatives sometimes.

>> Exactly WTF did he do that made any difference?

He stayed the hell out of NYC, rather than paralyze the place for his security’s sake and gum up their relief efforts.

That was mighty generous of him, foregoing that photo op.

Other than that, Obama hasn’t done a damn thing, as far as I can see from here.

How could he fail? All that’s required is meaningless speeches and handing out great wads of money. Right up his alley.

Obvious push poll. They are trying to create opinion here, not measure it.

People in NJ were warned and told to get ready. christie and obama were touring the area today as the press interviewed those still underwater... They heard from more than a few that they needed food and water "NOW"... obama and christie had none... at least “tons of fun” wasn't getting off his snack stash. They were not happy and they were “angry" that the government had not brought them food and water.

I read on a local TV station's website (have it saved at work) that "holder's people" are looting and showing pictures of what they had stolen from stores and from people's homes... on Twitter. They actually had the tweets listed with names. They are threatening rape, violence, shootings and pipe bomb attacks. Yeah... obama is doing a swell job.

Like every other poll that the WP has posted all year... this one is bullsh!t and so is the fact that so many of you are so timid and so badly whipped that you believe every piece of propaganda obama throws at you... and every time you do... axlerod laughs at you... “you” as in a “collective you”... not you individually.
