Mark my words, we are all going to rue the day that general purpose computing died because of everyone jumping on the wall-garden tablet and smartphone bandwagon.

Gen purpose computing isn’t going to die, but the hardware we use will. Consider this: the PCs of the early 80s were 1000x faster than the ENIAC mainframe that took up an entire room. The tablets of today are 1000x faster than the PCs of the early 80s.

Right now we & s/w devs are still figuring out how to incorporate tablets into content creation. Once that’s cracked the PC box will be obsolete as a punch card reader.
